I was a young lad by the time, but I remember that my uncles were very disappointed when Hearns crushed Cuevas with vicious rights to win the fight in the second round.

On one corner Pipino Cuevas, who was the Champion and had a reputation for being a heavy puncher, having won his last twelve fights eleven by knockout. On the other corner the Contender Thomas Hearns who had 28 wins no losses with 26 knockouts by the time they fought.

Well it was clear that the fight could end before the 15 round. That day we witnessed the birth of a boxing legend named Thomas Hearns and perhaps the downfall of a future member of the boxing hall of fame Pipino Cuevas. Nowadays Hitman would have been avoided by any current belt holder for sure.

Thirty four years have pass since that fight took place, but Pro Boxing still generates new comers who replace the old lions. I wonder who will replace foes like Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao in the very near future, maybe they haven’t arrived yet but for sure they will come when the time is right.

If the reader got the chance to see the fight, then you must remember the eyes of Hearns staring at Cuevas. For the young fight fans who haven’t seen this fight I recommend you to search it and enjoy it, because it was a beautiful knockout. Do the readers remember this fight?
