bute6555By Allan Fox: Former IBF super middleweight champion Lucian Bute (31-2, 24 KOs) will be fighting on December 6th at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Canada.

Bute, 35, doesn’t have an opponent yet, but his promoter is currently looking for someone to face him. They’re looking for a quality opponent to face him. Bute hasn’t fought since last January when he was beaten soundly by former WBC light heavyweight champion Jean Pascal by a 12 round unanimous decision.

Bute’s promoter Jean Bedard of InterBox said via tvasports.ca “He thinks he can go back to the same levels of performance than when he was world champion. Lucian wants to make a comeback in a big way.”

Bute is no longer with trainer Stephan Larouche, as they’ve gone their separate ways. You can’t really put the blame on Larouche for Bute’s loss to Pascal, because it just looked like Bute didn’t have the nerve to stand in there and throw his punches. Bute needs to regain his confidence in himself that he’ll be able to take the shots that he’ll occasionally get hit with, because that seems to be the major thing that’s holding him back.

In Bute’s two fights since the loss to Froch, Bute looked like he was afraid to mix it up for fear of running into something. When Bute let his hands go in the final round of his fight against Grachev, he looked like the same fighter he’d been his entire career. There was no difference in that round. But Bute fought timidly in the first 11 rounds of the fight, and had none of the fire that he once did.

Buyte still seems bothered by the knockout loss he suffered against WBA super middleweight champion Carl Froch in their fight in May of 2012. Bute has fought twice since that fight in beating Denis Grachev and losing to Pascal. In both fights, he looked poor.
