Can Maidana solve another problem?

maidana76By Yannis Mihanos: In life we all experience at times problems: big and small. Problems seem to get into our way of improving. They cause headache and takes sometimes a lot of time to figure them out. But once we find the way to solve them, then we can finally move on to the next stage and towards better things and future.

Last December, Marcos “El Chino” Maidana 35-3 (31 KO’s) was at the place of the underdog, the big favorite for the victory was the undefeated and very promising boxer, Adrien “The Problem” Broner.

Broner was the self pro claimed “new Mayweather” and believed that he could snatch an easy victory against Maidana but little did he know Maidana came to the fight well prepared and conditioned.

Maidana looked pumped and up for the challenge right from the start. He knocked Broner down twice in the fight in drooping him in the 2nd and 8th rounds, and that was the end of the problem for Broner, along with his seemingly unblemished record (27-0).

In late February the pound for pound king of boxing Floyd Mayweather Jr. had decided to fight Marcos Maidana on May 3 at MGM Grand Garden in Las Vegas, Nevada.

In this fight, 2 titles will be on the line: Maidana’s newly acquired WBA welterweight strap and Mayweather’s coveted WBC welterweight belt, so it’s a unification bout.

The question that comes now for Maidana is can he handle another problem? The problem of Mayweather? Trainer Robert Garcia and his team believe that he can.

The confidence that he got from his late December victory, along with the similarity that Broner and Mayweather have as boxers makes this fight very interesting. Of course the similarities of Broner and Mayweather are few but they are enough to stir the attention of the public.

Coming again in the fight as an underdog Marcos Maidana feels that he can solve again the problem even if this problem is bigger than any other he has faced before. So let’s all wait and see.
