Garcia to have Maidana use the Broner fight plan to defeat Mayweather

Garcia’s plan is to go back to what Maidana did in beating the Mayweather-like Adrien Broner last December by a 12 round unanimous decision. Maidana jumped on Broner immediately in that fight and put nonstop pressure on him and quickly overwhelmed Broner’s shoulder roll defense. Broner wasn’t able to keep up with Maidana’s high work rate.

Well this is interesting. Garcia, winner of 2012 trainer of the year, comes up with a plan to beat Mayweather. I am a huge fan of Robert Garcia. So i am anxious to know this plan. Well Garcia said in an interview with Fight hype:

“You know what? I’m not going to start brand new. I do have a lot of things that we did against [Adrien] Broner that should also be effective against Mayweather”

Seriously Garcia? That’s the big plan? There are a lot of people who think Broner and Mayweather are quite similar. I for one have never seen it. In Broner I just see a limited boxer using a poor man’s version of the shoulder roll. Luckily Garcia sees the level of difference between Broner and Mayweather. But somehow he is convinced that by doing the same things they did against Broner they can pull off an upset against Mayweather.

I believe deep down Robert knows his fighter doesn’t stand a chance. But he just can’t come out and say it. But still to see a trainer of this caliber not be able to come up with a better game plan is just plain sad.

Garcia’s plan could work for Maidana if Mayweather stands frozen in one place for 12 rounds in the same manner than Broner did last December, but if Mayweather uses movement then it’ll end up being a one-sided fight.
