Ortiz weighed in at 146.6 lbs. and looked slightly thin like he had to struggle to come in at the weight. His opponent Collazo also came in at 146.6 lbs., but he looked healthier and more suited to the weight.

While Ortiz bristles at the talk of this fight being a comeback for him, it has to be seen that way because Ortiz is coming off of a long year and half layoff, and he’s lost his last two fights. It’s definitely a comeback fight for the 27-year-old Ortiz with a lot riding on it.

If Ortiz loses to Collazo on Thursday night then it’s going to be next to impossible for Ortiz to be able to turn things around with his career. To be sure, Ortiz probably won’t quit if he gets beaten by Collazo, but he might as well hang up the gloves because there will be no coming back from yet another defeat. It’ll be especially bad if Ortiz quits again like he did in the Marcos Maidana, Josesito Lopez and to a certain extent in his fights against Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Lamont Peterson. Ortiz has got to be able to stick it out and continue fighting even if he takes a beating, because he’s clearly quit in all of those fights.

Collazo, 32, will need to push the fight to Ortiz if he wants to win the fight. Collazo doesn’t have a lot of power, but he’s a good inside fighter. If he can take the fight to the inside then he has a chance of stifling Ortiz’s superior power and possibly winning by a decision or forcing Ortiz to quit to get a stoppage.

Here are the other weights on the undercard:
