Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s credibility issue

floyd#3By Juan dela Cruz: Much had been said about the saga of Manny Pacquiao-Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s failed mega bout. And the whole world knows, except for a few deluded Floyd defenders, who’s to blame for the super fight failing to come into fruition, no other than but Floyd Mayweather Jr. A lot had already happened. Manny had been to other wars, so was Floyd. The only difference is that, Manny had already moved on, but Floyd can’t.

On the latest development, Manny challenged Floyd to a charity fight but after more than a week, Floyd was eerily silent despite the fact that he had been noisy on the social media and attacking Manny Pacquiao from all angles of the internet. Pac’s challenge was his answer to Floyd’s last tirade saying Manny is desperate. But when the challenge was made, Floyd was nowhere to be found, thanks to Richard Schaefer’s illogical answer to the challenge saying it was made by Manny because he was desperate without giving a rational reason. It was only him who made a comment on the challenge, not Floyd, not Haymon, or any of the Mayweathers, unfortunately, the comment was unreasoned.

As I have been saying, the fight is not going to happen simply because Floyd doesn’t want it. Despite the fact that Mayweather had been saying he wants Pac, all his actions point to opposite direction. Now, people can no longer determine when to believe what Floyd is saying. Remember, every time Floyd’s demand is met, he will make another demand, thus stalling the fight. It is clear that there is no guarantee if Floyd will face Manny once Pac agrees to a demand. It is the very reason why Manny won’t leave Top Rank despite Floyd’s assurance that the fight can happen if and when Pac leave Bob Arum. Remember, Floyd had made several assurances that he will fight Manny, first, if Manny will step up on the plate and call out Floyd. After it was made by Pac, Floyd then wanted random blood test. After Manny agreed, there’s another demand and that Manny should train in the US. Then there’s another and another and another. Actually, I lost track already.

The latest demand made by Floyd is for Manny to leave Top Rank and to avenge his defeat against Bradley and Marquez. The question is, will the fight finally happen if Pac will defeat Bradley (Juan Manuel Marquez won’t fight Manny anymore) and then leave Arum? Of course not! Floyd had already lost his credibility. No one believes what he says about wanting the fight. It is still clear in the mind of the people during the Ortiz-Floyd presser what Mayweather said, “Yes, after Ortiz, Manny will be next”. But on the next day, he denied having said that and even asked the media not to put words in his mouth. Another thing that affects Floyd’s credibility is his choice of opponent. He said his opponents were solid. I agree that many of Floyd’s opponents were solid, but the big question is, where they in solid form during the fight? Never! Never were any of his opponents in solid form when Floyd faced them. They were either bloated or drained making them soft opponents. Now he’s saying his next opponent will be solid. And the whole boxing world laugh at him knowing it will just be another cherry picking for Floyd.
