By Ciaran McKinney: As the O2 in London filled up with spectators ready to see Scott Quigg battle for his first World Title and of course, the professional debut of Olympic Super-Heavyweight Gold Medalis Anthony Joshua, a bout had slipped under the radar for the casual viewer.

This was the British Cruiser-weight title eliminator between the hard hitting Wadi Camacho and the strong-willed crowd favourite Tony Conquest. The fight got off to a furious start with Camcho coming out of his corner in a calm, collected manner, stalking his opponent and stalking him, ready to strike with his swinging left hook.

In the first round, he had Conquest on the canvas, a lovely combination finished with an uppercut left him on his knees taking a count of 9. Things looked bleak for Tony Conquest, but they were about to get a whole lot worse in the second when he was on the receiving end of a picture-perfect shot from the clearly more powerful Camacho.

Whilst he was rocked, he never looked to have lost his wits and wisely took another count of 9. It seemed only a matter of seconds before the fight would be done with, a seemingly triumphant Camacho even turned to the camera to taunt in his dominance, however, what was to happen was to shock everyone in attendance and viewing at home.

The battle hardened Conquest set about a different tactic, as apposed to standing for the shots and waiting to counter punch, he began to come at his opponent and throw some bombs of his own, whilst these certainly didn’t have the effect of Camachos’ two knockdowns, they were eye catching and he was most certainly the busiest fighter.

Its hard to say what happened in the next, Wadi clearly thought he had the fight in the bag after only two round and a 4 point advantage on the cards, whether he lost the fight for himself or it was just the sheer heart of Tony Conquest. The latter and crowd pleasing Conquest won almost every one of the remaining rounds and took home a unanimous decision.

A stunning turn around that left Wadi Camacho dumb-founded, but he had no one to blame but himself. A true advertisement for the sport of boxing and a fight really should bring some plaudits to a thriving domestic scene.
