Alvarado-Provodnikov preview on HBO on October 5th

Sept. 19, 2013 – Fight fans eager for a unique inside look at the highly anticipated Oct. 19th HBO World Championship Boxing® showdown between junior welterweights Mike Alvarado and Ruslan Provodnikov should mark their calendars to catch an all-new edition of “Face Off,” starring the two prizefighters. “Face Off With Max Kellerman: Alvarado/Provodnikov” debuts Saturday, Oct. 5 at 1:00 a.m. (ET/PT) on HBO immediately following an action-filled evening of boxing programming on the network highlighted by a World Championship Boxing card live from Orlando, FL.

Boxing fans excited to watch this all-new “Face Off” program can see it first on HBO GO® starting at 6:00 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 4.

Moderated by Max Kellerman, “Face Off” is an insightful and often gripping interview session in which the two fighters square off and answer Kellerman’s questions. The fighters also get the chance to address each other and their fans in this engaging format.

The Alvarado/Provodnikov extended version of “Face Off” is set to air multiple times on HBO and HBO2 (schedule below). “Face Off” will also be available on the HBO On Demand® service, HBO GO® and at www.hbo.com/boxing as well as various other new media platforms that distribute the program.

HBO air times include: Oct. 5 (1:00 a.m.), 14 (3:00 p.m. & 11:45 p.m.), 15 (8:15 a.m. & 2:50 a.m.), 16 (6:45 p.m.), 17 (12:05 a.m.) & 19 (8:30 a.m.)

Alvarado vs. Provodnikov is one of the year’s most eagerly anticipated fights and a “can’t miss” showdown between two of the top 140-pound sluggers. It takes place Saturday, Oct. 19 from the 1STBank Center in Broomfield, CO and will air live on HBO, starting at 9:45 p.m. ET/PT.

San Diego, California (September 19, 2013) – The John Bray Boxing Foundation is holding the 4th Annual John Bray Free Youth Boxing Clinic in an effort to continue to help the community in preventing and combating gang violence while promoting discipline and academic success among school-age students. After three successful events held in the San Fernando Valley and Central Valley of California, the John Bray Boxing Foundation has teamed up with the House of Boxing Training Center for an event in San Diego, California.

Center’s Carlos Barragan Sr. and Jr. have continued to make major contributions and positive impacts within the South Bay communities of the city of San Diego for over 20 years. Both organizations have arranged this free youth boxing clinic in an effort to raise awareness of issues that impact the youth of our community.

Children and teens face many temptations everyday; whether it is drugs, gangs or peer pressure. The John Bray Boxing Foundation and House of Boxing Training Center want to provide these promising young men and women with an alternative where they can feel at home and escape the pressures they have to deal with daily. Although it is considered a boxing clinic, these participants will also listen to inspirational speakers, and learn about nutrition, life skills and attitude development.

USA Boxing New England Championships

The Massachusetts State Police Boxing Team is pleased to announce that they will be hosting the USA Boxing New England Championship tournament beginning Saturday, October 12, 2013 at the Southbridge Community Center, 153 Chestnut Street, Southbridge, MA. Dates for the preliminary bouts include October 19th and October 26th. The championship final will take place Saturday, November 2, 2013 at the Sturbridge Host Hotel, 366 Main Street (Route 20), Sturbridge, MA.

Bouts in three divisions will be contested by male and female boxers: Senior Division, Youth Division, and Novice Division. Winners from the Senior and Youth divisions will advance to the regional finals at the Olympic Training Center, Lake Placid, NY. Winners from the regional competition will advance to the USA Boxing National tournament in Spokane, Washington. The National tournament is a qualifying tournament for participation in the U.S. Olympic Trials.

Former heavyweight sensation “Gentleman” Gerry Cooney will be on hand for pictures and autographs at the finals on November 2nd.
