Is Mayweather really boring?
By Babatis Banda: Floyd Mayweather Jr., P4P king 44-0-26 is always at the centre of discussions whenever it comes to boxing. Anything that involves Mayweather is mega in size in comparison to any other fighter active today. This is not a claim, but a fact. It does not really matter the reason, but he is a big drawing power.
If you like, consider that most fighters have their country men and women to support them for obvious pride and nationalistic reasons. Mayweather does not draw the attention from such a premise, because he does that basically through his boxing ability and icon status. Mayweather has built his status over the years and others are fortunate to have a whole country behind them without having to labour for it. If you ask me, that’s really what I call an achievement.
How then can such a person be boring, but ever at the centre of things in this spot? How then can somebody explain why all roads have led to Mayweather? It is every boxer’s dream to step in the ring with Mayweather even if a loss was guaranteed. How then can such a drawing power be boring and be very important at the same time? I guess nobody can answer these simple questions without sounding a little weird. Simple logic would be that people would never pay to go and catch a nap or yawn all night. People would not buy PPV to get bored by Mayweather…never.
There is an absurd claim that people buy PPV to see him lose. If it is so, then they are simply dumb. Why buy an expensive PPV when you can simply wait for the news or the free streaming of the fight? That’s a lame reason.
I will tell you why you find Mayweather boring. Firstly, if blood, broken bones and knock downs are the only reason you watch boxing, then you are in a wrong spot. There is another spot full of fighters on PEDs and all that stuff that you should be watching doing all those things at every fight . Secondly, you may find Mayweather boring for another simple reason. You want him hurt so bad, but he is hardly touched.
If Mayweather is knocked around all the time or even knocked down silly, like Pacquiao was, you would definitely say the fight was exciting even when he would have fought the same way he does. The Fourth reason why you find Mayweather boring is simply because you do not like him. You don’t like him for several reasons and among them could be that he has beaten your favourite boxer/s. You could simply be jealous of his achievements in comparison to the boxer you support, or simply put…you could be a serious sadist.
The last, but not least is that you are just hurting deep inside because Mayweather has never given you an opportunity to be happy.
I know I will not convince you, it is not my job to do that but what I will do is tell you the truth so that deep inside yourself, you can ask yourself which of the reason/s above affect you. Now that you know, next time you say it, it will be with a full realisation of where you belong.
