Haye: Fury refused 50/50 offer; won’t sign contract

fury1By Scott Gilfoid: Former WBA heavyweight champion David Haye (26-2, 24 KO’s) is saying that unbeaten contender Tyson Fury (21-0, 15 KO’s) has turned down a 50/50 deal to fight him and that he won’t sign the contract to make the fight.

Fury is talking on his twitter about wanting a bigger cut of the pie, saying he wanted an 80/20 deal. It’s hard to know if Fury is serious or not. If so, then it’s a good way of getting out of the fight by asking for too much.

Haye said on his twitter “I did everything in my power to get Fury in the ring. Even gifting him a 50/50 split. But Big Chump won’t sign contract 4 the fans. All talk.”

Fury said on his twitter: “I would have been good for me to KO Haye. It would of made the nation smile…I think my next fight might be Fres Oquendo? Haye wants a 50/50 purse, but I said 80/20 my way because I’m whats in.”

Wow, this is pretty shocking to see Fury saying no to a 50/50 deal with Haye. Now why would Fury down such a great deal to fight a guy that’s arguably a lot more popular than him, much more experienced and with a lot more accomplishments in his career.

Is Fury getting cold feet all of a sudden now that the Haye fight is staring him in the face? We’ve seen other fighters flap their gums and then when they get a dangerous fight offered to them, they price themselves out of the fight or come up with some kind of an excuse not to take it. Is Fury doing the same thing here?

Why on earth would Haye offer Fury a 50/50 deal in the first place? If it was me giving Haye the advice, I’d tell him to give Fury no more than 20% tops because it would reflect what Fury has accomplished in his career, and even that is being far too generous because Fury hasn’t even beaten a quality heavyweight yet, and of course he’s never won a world title and I can’t see him ever doing that.

Oh well, Haye needs to give up on the Fury business and move on to bigger and better things. This fight wouldn’t have helped Haye get ready for a rematch against IBF/IBO/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko anyway. It would have been just a stay busy fight for Haye. Fury would have gotten blasted out in the 1st round, and I think it would be even less competitive than Haye vs. Manuel Charr.
