Froch vs. Kessler: A neutral perspective

froch111Who will win in this highly anticipated bout between Carl “The Cobra” Froch and Mikkel “Viking warrior” Kessler this Saturday night at the O2 Arena in London, England.

Personally I see Froch winning this fight by a unanimous decision, in competitive and controversial decision similar to the first fight, but in “the Cobra’s” favour. My reasons for predicting this are as follows:

Kessler’s record follows the pattern of many German champions, winning or defending his title by fighting on home soil, both losses have come when fighting away from home, outclassed by both ward and Joe Calzaghe, basically he’s never won out of Denmark or Germany.

My main reason as to why I see Froch winning is recent activity, Froch has fought a higher standard at a better consistency. Since Kessler’s injury against Ward he’s been pretty much semi-retired, fighting boxers on a down hill slide, barring Brian Magee, who was an obvious walkover.  Froch has seemingly improved since his fight with Kessler, reaching the final of the super six, though losing to a highly talented Andre ward followed by a  career best performance against Lucan bute,

On the other hand were do I see Froch failing? He is in a bout were the fighting style that has given him so much attention could get him in real trouble. Kessler undoubtedly still possesses the knockout punch. When Froch fought  Glen Johnson we saw real vulnerability against the overhand right. Kessler will be looking for that shot off the jab, rather than the straight right

Kessler’s outside fighting and fitness could cause problems for Froch, especially if he tries to come out like he did against Lucian Bute, that just won’t work

Finally I thought Carl looked a little weight drained at the weigh in, though that’s just my opinion.

Though I’ve called Froch on points, I haven’t and would not bet on this fight, I think it’s too close to call, Froch will be pressing the action and Kessler will be trying to control the range, which should provide an intriguing fight in the early rounds, a followed by a brawl at the latter bend of the fight

My question to you? Were do you think my analysis fails, and who do you see winning and why?  Please give some reasons to your opinions? Also do you think either should rematch Andre Ward and why?
