Baby Floyd [Broner] is not great yet

broner655By Stevie Ocallaghan: Adrien “The Problem” Broner. After any fight regarding somebody in his weight class his name gets dragged up about he would smash whoever the other fighter might be.

Last weekend In Glasgow Ricky Burns fought and defended his title against the tough and skilled Puerto Rican Jose Gonzalez. It is said that Burns has mucked Broner 3 times now but all the time it was convenient for Broner And not necessarily for Burns.

Maybe Burns did duck Broner and on last weekends evidence maybe it was the right decision. Burns struggled with his accuracy and timing against a very skilled opponent and was losing convincingly until 1 punch in the 7th and suddenly the momentum changed.

You can say what you want about Gonzalez quitting but there are plenty of fighter who have took a knee when hit, could have got back up and beat the count but didn’t. Gonzalez carried on for another 2 rounds when he was clearly out of gas. That has to be commended. You won’t see Broner offer Gonzalez a fight any time soon.

Let’s compare Burns and Baby Floyd’s last opponents. Gonzalez at 5’10” with very fast, accurate and heavy hands or Gavin Rees at 5’4″ fast hands but couldn’t knock the dust off an old ornament.

Let’s give Burns credit for finding a way to win.

If Gavin Rees could continually tag Broner, what would Gonzalez do to him. On the subject of ducking, Broner said he would never fight his “big brother.”

To my knowledge they are not related. The reason Baby Floyd would never fight his idol is he knows he would not even win a single round against the much more talented Mayweather. So none of this he’s my brother rubbish, he would get whooped.

Still on the subject of ducking, why did he jump two weights to challenge for another title? I’ll tell you it’s because guys like Garcia and Matthyse hit back and hit back much harder than the feather-fisted Paulie Malignaggi. Broner has went for the easy option.

So don’t be kidded by all the brother rubbish because if somebody put a great offer to Mayweather to fight his little bro, they don’t call him “Money” for nothing, he would take the fight in a heartbeat.
