khan#3By Jamil Akram: Amir “King” Khan (28-3, 19 KO’s) showed a heart of a lion and a ton of courage in beating Julio Diaz (40-8-1, 29 KOs’) tonight by a 12 round unanimous decision. Khan was knocked down in the 4th round, but he survived and went on to get the victory. The performance was a edgy but very gripping from the first bell to the last.

Khan was committed and dedicated which is the reason he survived win against a  tough Mexican Julio Diaz who was truly magnificent.

Listening to the corner in between rounds, I think Khan had underestimated Diaz’s power. King Khan proved everyone and himself that after getting knocked down in the 4th round and getting back up. He still managed to mentally regroup and come back from the knockdown.

Do I think Khan will be a world champion again? That’s debatable but Khan proved that he has a ton of heart tonight.

I’m not sure if Khan can handle Danny Garcia’s left hook or Lucas Matthysse’ power.

I just thought tonight that Diaz was not the best finisher after having Khan hurt for the entire second half of the fight. If this fight had been against a world champion, I’m sure the result would been completely different.

Khan’s trainer Virgil Hunter can only do so much. He can change Khan’s mind but not his heart.

Hate him or love him, Khan has a great heart and will never give up and will always bring epic entertaining fights which boxing needs.
