OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERABy Dan Ambrose: WBA World junior middleweight champion Austin Trout (26-0, 14 KO’s) is putting in hard workouts in his sparring sessions to get ready for his April 20th unification bout against WBC junior middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (41-0-1, 30 KO’s) at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.

Trout already saw Canelo’s fighting style as one that he could easily negate, but with his recent sparring sessions against fighters with the same style as Canelo, Trout is even more certain that he’ll have an easy time dominating the orange-haired Canelo on April 20th.

Trout said to Fighthype.com, “By the time it’s fight night, Canelo won’t be a worry for me. April 20th is going to be a piece of cake.”

If there’s one that you can say for certain about Trout it’s that when he says something he means it. He’s not just talking to hype the fight or to hear himself speak. He’s seen the 22-year-old Canelo’s style over and over in reviewing video of his fights, he’s badly beaten his brother Rigoberto Alvarez, and he’s been training against guys that have the exact same fighting style as Canelo.

Trout knows without a doubt that he’s going to badly beat the heavily hyped but inexperienced Mexican fighter when the two of them step foot inside the Alamodome ring in front of what could be 50,000 Canelo fans on April 20th in Texas.

Canelo has the type of offense where he needs to set his feet in order for him to throw his power shots. He’s not a guy that’s very limber, and he doesn’t move well around the ring.

If you look at Canelo’s fights with Alfonso Gomez, Ryan Rhodes and Matthew Hatton, you’ll see that it was like he Canelo was stuck in 2nd gear the entire fight, and couldn’t push it up a notch to take out weak fighters that were there to be stopped early.

The reason Canelo couldn’t is because he doesn’t have the foot speed, and the ability to fight on the move. He’s someone that depends on his opponents standing in front of him for him to look really good. Trout isn’t going to do that for Canelo on April 20th, and it’s going to be a nightmare for the orange-haired fighter from Mexico.
