Fury: Thompson is getting it from me for knocking out Price

price#2By Scott Gilfoid: It seems that Tyson Fury’s nationalist pride is showing itself after American Tony Thompson knocked out Britain’s David Price in the 2nd round last Saturday night in Liverpool, England.

Thompson was supposed to be the sacrificial lamb dragged in from America for Price to look good against, but Thompson flipped the scrip against the novice and exposed his glass ear by bopping him a good one with a right hand that ended the fight.

Fury said on his twitter “I’m gonna spank this little b*** Tony Thompson all around the ring! Granddaddy is getting it for KOing Price!! I’ll get him for u @davidprice. Thompson is old as s*** & been KO’d two times! Ill KO him after Cunningham. Tony Thompson where are you? You’re getting it after your mate Cunningham along with any other American heavyweight.”

Oh, how touching, Fury is looking to fight for Price to avenge his defeat almost like a big brother would. This is pretty funny actually. Why on earth would Fury want to risk his career on a tough old lion like Thompson for a fighter that said this past week that Fury didn’t have the talent to win a world title?

Why fight Price’s battles for him? I know the answer. Fury still sees weakness in the 41-year-old Thompson, and he wants fans to slather love and affection on him for being the one to beat him. I wonder if Fury would do the same thing if it were Deontay Wilder who knocked Price out in 2 rounds. Somehow I think Fury would go in the opposite direction, and let Price’s defeat be his problem.

So it looks like Fury is going to try and put a fight together between him and Thompson if Fury can get past his scheduled April 20th fight against Steve Cunningham in New York. I wouldn’t be overlooking Cunningham if I were Fury because we might see another Brit getting exposed, and that really would be sad.

Once Fury is beaten, there are really no British heavyweights left that haven’t been exposed. David Haye already got from Wladimir Klitschko, Dereck Chisora has been beaten left and right the past three years, and now Price. Fury is the last man standing.
