By Dan Ambrose: Zab Judah (42-7, 29 KO’s) thinks WBA/WBC light welterweight champion Danny Garcia (25-0, 16 KO’s) started getting cold feet about the idea of facing him on February 9th after seeing how devastating Lucas Matthysse looked this past weekend in destroying Mike Dallas Jr. by a 1st round knockout win. Judah beat Matthysse by a 12 round decision two years ago in a close fight.
Judah thinks an out of shape Garcia decided he wasn’t ready physically or mentally to fight Judah in February after seeing that fight. Garcia has decided to use a fake injury excuse about his ribs to buy more time to get in shape and to try and get ready for the fight, Judah believes.
Judah said on his twitter “He started thinking Zab beat Matthysse so what might happen to me? oh no al al al I need more time!! He seen the Matthysse fight and said oh no I need more time I don’t wanna end up like that!! I’m going to do you the same way @DannySwift. A little more time my as**, You just pro longed ya a** whipping #monkeyboy but April 27, I’m going to beat you like a drum @DannySwift.”
Garcia’s dad Angel Garcia shouldn’t have woke up a sleeping trash talking giant in Judah because it’s like he’s turned back the clock 10 years to the way Judah used to be in his early 20s when he was relished the idea of humiliating his opponents with insulting trash talk.
In recent years, Judah has calmed down and become much more reserved and respectful of his opponents. But the combination of Angel and Danny insulting Zab repeatedly in their first press conference, seems to have snapped Judah backed to what he was early in life and it’s pretty interesting to see him work Danny over on a daily basis in trash talking him and his father.
The injury that Garcia sustained has made it necessary to postpone the fight with Judah until April 27th at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, and Judah’s obviously not happy about it. He was ready to fight on February 9th and he’s ready to fight on that date if Garcia will suddenly heal by then.
