buboy44By Allan Fox: Buboy Fernandez, the assistant coach for Manny Pacquiao, has come out with an apology to Getty photographer Art Bello, who Buboy allegedly assaulted after Pacquiao was knocked out last Saturday night by Juan Manuel Marquez at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Buboy was seen in photos kicking – or attempting to kick – Bello while the photographer stood outside of the ring ropes moments after Pacquiao been knocked out.

Buboy said to philboxing.com “I just want to reach out to the guy and say I am truly sorry but I do not know how to reach him. It finally dawned to me that you can help me by putting up an article stating that I wanted to apologize. Please tell him I am truly sorry. Please help me tell the gentleman involved in the incident that I am deeply sorry for what happened. I did not mean any harm. My reaction was just a result of the heat of the moment.”

According to Yahoo Sports, Bello wasn’t interested in contacting the police to report the assault but he did want an apology from Buboy and Pacquiao’s personal advisor Michael Koncz.

The Nevada State Athletic Commission will be investigating the incident and they could penalize both Koncz and Buboy for the matter.

It’s understandable that Buboy would be upset at seeing his fighter Pacquiao knocked out cold by Marquez. After all, Buboy has been with Pacquiao for years.

It must have been difficult for Buboy to see Pacquiao flat on his face. However, the ring was surrounded by photographers all snapping pictures of Pacquiao lying unconscious and it’s hard to understand what Buboy could have hoped to accomplish by stopping one photographer from taking pictures. It would be like Buboy sticking his finger in a dike leaking from a thousand places and hoping he could stop the leak.
