Image: Trout: My hand is going to be raised on Saturday against CottoBy Dan Ambrose: WBA World junior middleweight champion Austin Trout (25-0, 14 KO’s) says he sees his own has being the one that’s raised on Saturday night in his battle against Miguel Cotto (37-3, 30 KO’s) in their fight that will be shown on Showtime. Trout, 27, believes that he’s going to take over the fight in the later rounds and win the fight no matter what.

Trout said this to RingTV “My visualization is with my hands raised.”

Trout isn’t looking for a knockout, but if it comes it comes. He might have the power to stop Cotto with a single shot but he’s got enough power to slice Cotto up, bleed him, and then either get a doctor’s stoppage or an outright stoppage due to Cotto’s vision being obscured by the blood in his eyes.

Cotto, as good as he is, he hasn’t beaten anyone that you can call a relevant fighter in quite some time. He’s got victories over a past his best Ricardo Mayorga, Antonio Margarito and Yuri Foreman, but none of those victories were very special. Foreman hasn’t fought since last year in March when he was wiped out in six rounds by Pawel Wolak, so you’ve got to dismiss Cotto’s win over Foreman as not being a big deal at all.

The last really good win that Cotto has had was against Shane Mosley five years ago. That was a lot time ago. Cotto’s best win since then was against Joshua Clottey, and that was a life and death battle where Cotto looked like he was going to quit at one point when things were going badly for him. Cotto lost his last fight against Floyd Mayweather Jr. last May.

Trout has some good victories over Delvin Rodriguez and Rigoberto Alvarez. I rate Rodriguez as higher than I Clottey, and Trout made it look easy in beating Rodriguez. That shows you how good Trout is, and how much problems Cotto is going to have with him.
