By Will Jackson Jr: In order for Juan Manuel Marquez to beat Manny Pacquiao again on December 8th, he needs to improve his footwork by simply giving Manny angles. This is what Bradley done and this will offset Manny’s balance meaning he will find it hard to land with his straight left. The thing is even when Manny does land it, he will have to reach with it and at this time all Marquez has to do is step out and counter all night.

A tip for Marquez should he read this is that he should step to the left and throw a left hook when Manny throws a left hand. If he gets the timing of this, it should definitely work because this will again cause Manny to reach with the left, so even if Manny does land it won’t be a hard shot.

I know at this point your probably thinking what is this guy talking about. How can Marquez match Manny’s footwork? Well the answer is that Manny is old and giving Manny the run around will cause his leg cramps to reoccur. This tactic of Marquez using the left hook is basically using your opponents speed against them as you are timing them. I am not saying Marquez should waste energy by moving all night but he just needs to move effectively.

Also for this tactic to work Marquez does not have to have the best footwork. He just has to have good timing to know when to step out and he has got very good natural timing. Timing that does not go away with old age as it is so natural.
This is a similar tactic that Bradley used. The reason Marquez should not use the right hand is because this will bring him inside Manny’s attacking circle. Marquez also cannot use this right hand tactic as both there reaches are similar so Marquez will get caught on the inside if he does. Marquez also does not have the balance to get in and out with his combinations like an Amir Khan used to. If he use the right hand Manny will just follow him and once again the decision will go to Manny.

Marquez also does not have the footwork but then again balance is footwork and balance is basically boxing. It’s just a series of weight transfers dictating how quick you are and what you do. How do you think Marquez can beat Pacquiao again for a 4th time. Marquez should come in with a left hook and then finish his combination with another left hook while moving out to the left.
