The 36-year-old Morales previously tested positive for the banned drug clenbuterol during tests on October 4th and October 10th, putting tonight’s fight between Morales and Garcia in jeopardy. However, the third test has cleared Morales and Garcia and his father Angel Garcia are okay with the fight going ahead.

Morales said last night on his twitter page “No need to worry about the psychological issue. I’m very focused on the fight, I’m a clean athlete.”

Morales figures the reason he tested positive was tainted food that he ate while in Mexico. Apparently clenbuterol is mixed in with cattle food to help fatten up cattle.

As for why an athlete might want to use a drug like that it reportedly helps with weight loss. It’s unknown to what extent that it helps.

Morales made weight for his fight with Garcia during Friday’s weigh-in, so there’s no issue like there was last time when Morales failed to make weight for his bout with Garcia last March. Morales ended up losing his WBC light welterweight title on the scales and he looked flabby around the midsection in that fight. He still fought well enough to give Garcia a broken nose and he definitely looked a lot better against him than Amir Khan did last July.

Garcia stopped Khan in the 4th round. Morales had little problems taking Garcia’s best left hooks without much problems. He was knocked down in the 11th round, but that was more of a balance thing than a case of Morales being hurt by Garcia’s shots.
