Martinez’s promoter Lou Dibella was furious about hearing that Sulaiman had allegedly bet on Chavez Jr. winning the fight. Dibella didn’t like it at all, and he promised to make sure that he measures the ring to make sure that it’s the Nevada regulation size of 20 X 20 when Martinez and Chavez Jr. step inside the ring at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nevada this Saturday night in their fight that will be televised by HBO pay per view. Dibella also thinks that Martinez can’t win by a decision. He feels that the judges will choose Chavez Jr. as the winner even if Martinez is the clear winner of the fight.

Martinez is taking all this as motivation to fight even harder against Chavez Jr. Martinez wants to knock the 26-year-old Chavez Jr. out cold to leave no doubt in the minds of the judges and the boxing public when they see this fight.

It’s hard to tell right now who’ll be the winner of the fight because neither fighter has been fighting really dangerous guys lately. Martinez hasn’t had a really tough fight since his win over Kelly Pavlik in 2010, and Chavez Jr. has never faced anyone that you can remotely call a tough opponent. It’s always been B level fighters one after another for the past year and he’s going to be forced to step up in a major way on Saturday night against Martinez.

Chavez Jr. has a good chin and he likes to walk through his opponent’s shots. Can Chavez Jr. do this against a hard puncher like Martinez? I don’t know, but I hope he has a better plan than that on Saturday because he could get hurt if he tries to fight like that. You don’t want to let a hard puncher like Martinez tee off, and you don’t want to try and walk through his punches if you can help it.
