The fight is close to being made. The Mexico City Arena has a seating capacity of 105,000.

What could change things is if Miguel Cotto comes back with a proposal that meets Pacquiao and his promoter Bob Arum’s interest. That’s not likely to happen, so the Pacquiao-Marquez fight is looking like it’s going to get made by Arum. There will be a catchweight involved with the fight of 142 or `143 lbs, according to fightnews. The WBC Diamond welterweight strap could be on the line for the fight, as neither fighter holds a welterweight world title. Pacquiao lost his WBO welterweight strap to Tim Bradley last June.

It’s surprising that Pacquiao would agree to a catchweight for the Marquez fight, as this is a catchweight that would benefit Marquez more so than it would Pacquiao. It’s also interesting that Pacquiao would be open to fighting Marquez in Mexico, but of course if the Mexico City Arena has a huge seating capacity of over 100,000 and Arum might be thinking about all the money that could be hauled in if Pacquiao and Marquez able to sellout the arena. That would be incredible for that many boxing fans to come and see this fight. Depending on how much they sell tickets for, Pacquiao, Marquez and Arum could make a ton of money on this fight.

This will be the fourth time that Pacquiao and Marquez have fought with Pacquiao having already won two of the three fights by controversial decisions. Their last fight last November in Las Vegas was especially controversial, as Marquez dominated almost every exchange in the fight and landed the cleaner shots all throughout. However, two of the judges saw Pacquiao as the better man. The decision was loudly booed by the boxing fans at ringside, and many of them felt that Marquez was robbed.
