Image: Broner hints that he may need to move up in weight again to get fightsBy Scott Gilfoid: Former WBO super featherweight champion Adrien Broner (24-0, 20 KO’s) thought he was solving some of his problems about there being a complete lack of appealing opponents for him to fight when he decided to move up in weight to the lightweight division.

However, now that the 23-year-old Broner is officially at lightweight, he’s finding out that not only is their a lack of big names at this weight, but also that no one wants to fight him.

Broner is now contemplating moving up in weight yet again to try and scare up some opponents at light welterweight or even welterweight just to get a fight.

Broner told RingTV “Man, the way that it’s looking, nobody wants to fight me…I’ll fight anybody at any weight right now. A lot of people get mixed up about this weight thing.”

Lately, Broner and WBC interim welterweight champion Robert Guerrero have been talking trash back and forth to each other. However, Broner’s not that interested in fighting Guerrero because he doesn’t have a very big name and Broner wants to take on a a well known opponent for his fights at welterweight and light welterweight. Broner isn’t impressed with Guerrero, saying to RingTV, “He’s ordinary.”

Guerrero used to have power when he fought at featherweight, but over time he’s lost the power after moving to super featherweight, lightweight and finally welterweight. The power is gone and Guerrero is now little more than a slapper with questionable stamina. Broner would have huge advantages over him if they fought and would likely knock him out. However, there’s no upside for that fight because Guerrero doesn’t have the name needed to interest Broner.

Broner is going to have to move up to at least the 140 pound division for his next fight on October 6th if he wants to find a decent opponent. Hopefully, he won’t need to move up all the way to welterweight just to get a fight.
