Image: Andre Ward has two easy options to unify the remaining belts at 168By Scott Gilfoid: With Arthur Abraham defeating WBO super middleweight champion Robert Stieglitz tonight to win his title, this leaves WBA/WBC super middleweight champion Andre Ward (25-0, 13 KO’s) with two easy options to unify the remaining belts at 168 lbs against his former victims – Carl Froch, the IBF champion, and now Abraham, the WBO champ.

It’s too easy Ward beating those guys. The hardest part of Ward beating Froch and Abraham again is getting them to agree to a fight with him. That may prove to be pretty much impossible no matter how hard Ward tries. Do honestly think that Froch and Abraham will agree on their own to fight Ward in a unification match? It would be worth their while if they could win those fights, but given how badly they were dominated by Ward in the Super Six tournament they would both be little more than fodder for Ward to toss around in the ring like a big cat playing with a mouse before he ate it.

Ward could march into Nottingham, have some tea, and then go out and spank Froch in front of 10,000 shocked Brits. Ward is that good to where he can go into Froch’s home arena and whip him in front of his own fans. The same thing for Abraham. Ward could go to Germany and beat Abraham so badly that the judges could never give it to Abraham without it looking blatant.

In a perfect world, Ward would be able to get the unification bouts against both Abraham and Froch, and then show the world that he’s number #1 by spanking them both. However, I don’t see Ward having any success in getting either of them to agree to fight him because he’s just too damn good right now. The only that was really anxious to fight him was WBC light heavyweight champion Chad Dawson, and the reason why he was so eager was because he’s the best fighter in his own division at 175, so he needs new adventures to keep it interesting.
