Image: Haye stops Chisora!By Jim Dower: Former WBA heavyweight champion David Haye (26-2, 24 KO’s) blasted out Dereck Chisora (15-4, 9 KO’s) in the 5th round moments ago on Saturday night at Upton Park, in London, England. In the 5th round, Haye knocked Chisora to the canvas twice with huge shots. After the second knockdown the fight was halted by referee Luis Pabon.

For the most part, Haye dominated the first four rounds, landing some nice shots and keeping Chisora mostly covering up. Like in his fight against WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko, Chisora simply wasn’t letting his hands go enough he was getting outworked by Haye, who was a lot busier than he had been in Haye’s loss to Vitali’s younger brother IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko last year in July.

In the 5th round, Haye pounced on Chisora, landing a tremendous right hand to the jab and following it with short power shots. Haye just stood and teed off on Chisora, who was taking the shots bravely but firing anything back. Haye then landed a beautiful left hook, right hand combination that put Chisora down on his hands and knees on the canvas. A badly hurt Chisora beat the count by getting up when the referee reach seven on his count. With only 30 seconds left in the round, Chisora attempted to clinch his way out of it. However, Haye smelled blood and opened up uppercuts and a big rights against Chisora, sending him down for a second time in the round. Although Chisora made it back to his feet at the count of eight, the referee halted the fight because he was too badly hurt to continue on.
