The Haye-Chisora fight build up is like a funeral

Image: The Haye-Chisora fight build up is like a funeralBy Scott Gilfoid: Is is just me or does the David Haye vs. Dereck Chisora fight build up lack any sense of drama for their July 14th fight. It’s like both of these guys have domesticated to the point where they’re afraid to say anything or do anything that would ruffle the delicate sensibilities of the British fans.

There’s no excitement, and one gets the impression that the fight is going to be a boring affair. They should be trying to beat each other up or at least showing some emotions. It’s like watching a couple of vulcans. Neither of these guys have any passion for the fight, so why are they even bothering?

In the past you could on Haye being a villain and doing a good job of explaining what he was going to do to his opponent once he got them inside of the ring. For this fight, we’re not seeing any of that. Haye looks scared to say anything, and the same with Chisora. He’s not going overboard like he usually does with comments and strange behavior during their press conferences. I guess they must have been told to be on their best behavior, but they’re going overboard. They need to sell the fight, and I don’t think they’re doing a good job of getting anyone excited to see it.

In watching “Haye vs. Chisra – Beyond the Ropes, Part 1,” it was like watching a couple of guys to a funeral instead of a fight. What happened? It just so boring I can’t believe it. If I was their promoter, I’d be putting the fear of death into both of them to make them get excited about the fight. There’s something wrong about how they’re doing this and it needs fixing bad while there’s still time before the fight.
