With the weigh-in being free, you can’t just blame it on a poor economy because it would take the price of gas and parking for boxing fans to have come and seen the Pacquiao vs. Bradley weigh-in today. So why did the fans stay away?

Kevin Baxter from the LA Time said “Thousands of fans were turned away from Mayweather’s pre-fight weigh-in [for Miguel Cotto.”

The only thing you can think of is that boxing fans aren’t all that interested in watching Pacquiao and Bradley get it on at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. There is still tickets available for this fight, and that’s a rare thing for a Pacquiao fight in venue with a seating capacity of 18,000 seats. Considering that Pacquiao sold 40,000 seats for his fights against Joshua Clottey and Antonio Margarito, you have to wonder why the fans are staying away in droves for the Pacquiao-Bradley fight.

What this tells me is that either boxing fans aren’t enamored at paying big money to see Pacquiao fight Bradley or they’re simply getting tired of watching Pacquiao fight. Pacquiao did look awful in his last fight against Juan Manuel Marquez last November, and more than a few boxing fans felt that Marquez should have been given the decision.

By Pacquiao deciding to move on rather than giving Marquez a rematch to try and settle things, it left Pacquiao without getting any closure on this fight. Pacquiao may not have wanted to fight Marquez again because of how much trouble it is, but it probably has turned off a lot of boxing fans towards Manny because they don’t see him even trying to fight Marquez again to straighten things out.
