Image: Kessler yapping about his so-called one-punch power going into Green fight on 5/19By Scott Gilfoid: Former WBA/WBC super middleweight champion Mikkel Kessler (44-2, 33 KO’s) has been working up a lather recently yapping about his supposedly NEW one-punch power now that he’s moved up in weight to the light heavyweight division.

Kessler faces a true knockout puncher in Allan Green (31-3, 21 KO’s) on May 19th at the Parken, Copenhagen, Denmark in a fight for the vacant WBC Silver light heavyweight title. Green is the real deal when it comes to punching power and he’s always had big power.

Kessler was recently bragging about his power in an interview, saying “Going up to light heavyweight has given me much more one-punch KO power.”

More one punch KO power? Since when did Kessler have one punch knockout power? As far as I can tell, Kessler has always been a fighter that got his opponents out with an accumulation of shots, usually in the second half of his fights. Where on earth did Kessler get this one-punch KO power stuff?

The KOs that Kessler has on his record were ones in which he would pound away on some hapless opponent who didn’t have a chance going into the fight and ended up beaten down eventually with a lot of shots. Kessler never was a big puncher, and I can’t see that changing now that he’s a little heavier.

Green is going to show Kessler what true power is at light heavyweight on May 19th, and make him wish that he had never made the decision to move up in weight in the first place.

Kessler has been thinking too much about his own power and not on the guys he’s going to be facing. If Kessler had problems taking the power from the talented Andre Ward at 168, just imagine what Kessler’s reaction will be when Green starts landing his big right hands. I see Kessler maybe taking another technical decision where he comes down with another injury that forces the fight to be halted.
