Image: Froch still crowing about his hometown advantage against ButeBy Scott Gilfoid: Former WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch (28-2, 20 KO’s) is still blabbering about having a hometown advantage against IBF super middleweight champion Lucian Bute (30-0, 24 KO’s) for their fight this Saturday night at the Nottingham Arena in Nottingham, UK. Froch has made up his mind that by fighting at home it will be enough to carry him to victory against the Romanian.

Froch said this as quoted by the Dailystar.co.uk “It’s definitely an advantage boxing at home for this one.”

10,000 fans are expected to come out for the fight with many of them being British boxing fans who will be supporting Froch in high numbers.

I think Froch is kidding himself if he thinks it will amount to one hill of beans him having a ton of fans rooting him on. When you’re dealing with a knockout puncher like Bute, who can take the judges out of the fight with one punch, it matters little how many fans you have. Froch fans won’t be able to step inside the ring and block Bute’s left hand smash when it comes crashing into the vulnerable midsection of Froch. The Brits won’t be able to block Bute’s huge left uppercut before it connects to Froch’s chin. The Brits won’t be able to stop Bute’s lethal right hook from connecting to Froch’d body or head for a knockout blow.

So you see, it doesn’t matter how many British fans show up next Saturday night to support Froch, because he’s going to get taken out with a body or a head shot at some point in the fight. There’s nothing the fans can do to stop Bute’s power shots on May 26th from finding a home.

At best, I see Froch lasting a little while in this fight, connecting with some nice shots and soaking up the adoration from fans. Froch will definitely have his moments and will likely get spurred on to taking some big risks. Those risks will get Froch knocked out I hate to say. It would be better for Froch if the fight were held in Montreal, because at least he wouldn’t get all the cheering and he’d fight more a conservative fight and maybe last until at least the 8th round before Bute finally connects with a big body shot that KOs Froch.
