Froch: Bute may fold early from my pressure

Image: Froch: Bute may fold early from my pressureBy Scott Gilfoid: Carl Froch sees himself causing IBF super middleweight champion Lucian Bute to possibly fold from the pressure he’s going to be putting on him on May 26th at the Nottingham Arena in the UK. It’s hard to imagine that scenario happening like that, but Froch has the fight to dream, doesn’t he?

Froch told eastsideboxing.com’s On the Ropes Boxing Radio “It can either go the distance and be a real humdinger for twelve rounds where he is trying to survive…and I’m putting pressure and landing body and head shots. There may even be a knockdown involved. He may go down and get back up and then hold on. Or it could be over very quick because when Bute feels the power and the intensity and pressure from me that he’s never been under before, he may just fall apart.”

This is too funny. Froch is dream land clearly. This is like a reverse scenario of what actually is going to happen in the ring on May 26th in Nottingham. Instead of Froch being the one that’s putting pressure on Bute, it’ll be Bute that’ll be attacking Froch from the outset like a ravenous great white shark attacking a tasty tidbit floating in the sea. Froch won’t be able to stave off the attacks from the bigger, stronger and faster Bute and will end up on his back counting stars floating above his head. It’s either going to be that or Froch will be on the canvas holding his midsection in pain.

If Froch puts pressure on Bute, he’s going to be playing into Bute’s fighting style because he loves it when his opponents try and attack him because he sets traps for them. Bute did get a gift decision over Librado Andrade in their first fight in 2008, but that was before Bute developed into a huge body puncher that he is now. He showed in his rematch with Andrade how much his game had changed in one year by stopping him with a single body shot in the 4th round. It’ll be the same for Froch.

He’s no tougher than Andrade is in terms of taking punishment, and he won’t be able to take Bute’s huge body shots no matter how badly he wants to win this fight. He’s only human, and there isn’t anyone that can stand up to Bute’s shots unless they have blazing hand speed and an incredible outside game like Andre Ward and the Dirrell brothers.
