Image: Froch angry at bookies for seeing him losing to ButeBy Scott Gilfoid: Former WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch (28-2, 20 KO’s) is hopping mad about the bookmakers in the UK picking against him in his big fight tonight against IBF champ Lucian Bute (30-0, 24 KO’s) at the Nottingham Arena in Nottingham, UK.

Froch said to the dailystar.co.uk “The bookies don’t know f**** all! The same bookmakers who don’t give me a chance in this fight all had Arthur Abraham to beat me. I rest my case. I am fighting in my hometown of Nottingham in front of a capacity crowd and that is the icing on the cake for me.”

I don’t see what the problem is. Froch should know by now that pretty much the entire civilized world sees him as getting spanked tonight by Bute. So why should Froch think the bookies are any different? I mean, come on does Froch think the bookies are imbeciles and just picking fighters out of the top of their heads without painstaking research. They want to make that green stuff, and whether Froch wants to acknowledge it or not, the way to do that is to pick Bute tonight by a nice body shot knockout. It is what it is. Froch should look at it from their perspective. Why pick the slower, weaker and older guy when you’ve got a new lion ready to tear apart an older more vulnerable lion. It’s the nature of the game. You wouldn’t expect the bookies to bet on an old Joe Louis when he took on the much younger Rocky Marciano, would you?

I hate to say it but Froch is going to get beaten tonight and probably by a brutal knockout. I guess the bookies are seeing it as a fight that pretty much will end badly for Froch. It’s too bad. It would be a Cinderella story if Froch could somehow show the bookies that they were wrong with their picks, but I wouldn’t count on that happening. Bute is the real deal.
