The maximum weight allowed is 169.4.

It won’t be a problem at all for Alvarez to shed the remaining weight in water when it comes to the weigh-in on the day before the fight on May 4th. Alvarez, 21, likely won’t lose any more weight during training camp, as he’s already almost pure muscle. He only needs to dehydrate to make the weight on the Friday before the fight and then put the weight back on when he rehydrates.

Alvarez figures to dominate this fight with his youth, power and boxing ability. Alvarez doesn’t quite have the same hand speed as Mosley, but he makes up for it in power and size. He’s also got much better endurance than Mosley. For some reason, Mosley seems to have turned into a three round fighter where he fights hard for three rounds, and then looks completely gassed out in the remaining nine rounds of the fight without getting a second wind like normal fighters.

Age obviously is something you look at when you see a fighter suffering from fatigue after only three rounds. However, Mosley should still be able to fight hard for at least six. It could be that Mosley is keeping himself in reserve to prevent taking punishment and possibly getting stopped. He’s been facing quality opposition as of late in his defeats against Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao.

The loss to Pacquiao occurred last May, and Mosley looked very bit of his 40 years in that fight. But Mosley shouldn’t have looked gassed in his fight against Sergio Mora in September 2010. That wasn’t a superstar that Mosley was in with, yet Mosley was running on vapors after the 4th round and got what many boxing fans believe was a gift 12 round draw.
