By Chris Williams: Floyd Mayweather Jr. isn’t too familiar with WBO light welterweight champion Tim Bradley, but he’s seen enough of him to know that he’s got the talent and boxing skills to give WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao fits when they meet up on June 9th.
Bradley has enough raw ability to beat Pacquiao and make sure that he doesn’t ever get a shot at fighting Floyd even if Pacquiao were to agree to Mayweather’s more than fair offer of $40 million to face him.
Mayweather said this about a fight between Bradley and Pacquiao as quoted by Fighthype.com “I had the chance to see the fighter [Bradley] fight, and the fighter that he’s facing can box a little, so I don’t think it’s going to be an easy task for him.”
Of course it’s not going to be an easy task for Pacquiao. We just saw him win a gift decision over 38-year-old Juan Manuel Marquez last November in a fight that Pacquiao arguably should have lost. If Pacquiao can’t even beat Marquez without great controversy in three separate fights, how in the world is he going to beat an even younger, more energetic Bradley?
I don’t think he can without getting another gift decision. It may become old hat for Pacquiao with him seemingly getting beaten and then getting controversial decisions each time out. I hate to say it but I can definitely see that happening because he’s starting to show signs of having lost a couple of steps and Bob Arum has finally decided to match him against a good opponent.
