By matching Cotto against some injured and/or over-the-hill fighters, Cotto has been able to pick up three quick wins and he now is as confident as he was going into his first fight against Margarito in 2008.

Too bad confidence isn’t the end all in boxing. The sport revolves around talent, not someone that has more confidence than ability. Cotto is going to be in serious trouble unless his trainer Pedro Diaz can dig up some hidden talent that Cotto has never displayed before in any of his fights, because from what I’ve seen of him in his last few fights, Cotto looks mediocre, like a paper champion, not a genuine one.

He was given the right advice to move up in weight to the 154 pound division, which is a very weak division. Cotto would likely be nothing more than a contender if he stayed at 147, but at 154, he’s a champion. It’s kind of sad because Cotto doesn’t look good enough to be a champion nowadays.

Cotto said “After the Margarito fight on December 3, I feel much, much better about myself.

I think it’s what you call false courage. If it were legit, Cotto would have been stepping it up against quality opposition in the last two years instead of facing the guys that Arum has fed to him for three easy wins.
