Image: Bellew-McIntosh pushed back to 4/27 due to McIntosh illnessBy Scott Gilfoid: The previously scheduled April 13th fight between British light heavyweight champion Tony Bellew (16-1, 10 KO’s) and challenger Danny McIntosh (13-2, 7 KO’s) has been pushed back to April 27th due to a chest infection that the 32-year-old McIntosh developed that will need more time for him to get healthy before he’ll be ready to go.

This gives the 29-year-old Bellew a little reprieve from what will very likely be a sound beating by McIntosh when the two fighters meet at the Echo Arena in Liverpool, UK. Bellew comes into the fight off the back of a 12 round thumping from WBO light heavyweight champion Nathan Cleverly last October. Bellew no doubt will be wanting to try and put things right when he steps into the ring against the older McIntosh.

However, this is one of those rare fights where Bellew has everything stacked against him. He’s not as fast as McIntosh, and doesn’t have the same boxing skills as him. And in the power department, both fighters are roughly the same. Bellew really doesn’t have much of a power advantage, and he’s going to be scratching his head trying to come up with some kind of idea he can come up with on April 27th to keep McIntosh from clowning him. I see it as one of those embarrassing fights where McIntosh gleefully smacks Bellew around the ring all night long, taking advantage of his better skills to dominate an overmatched opponent.

Bellew will have a chance early in the fight but if he can’t get McIntosh out of there by the 6th, it’s going to be all McIntosh heading down the home stretch.
