Chisora: When I see Haye I’m going to give him a slap

Image: Chisora: When I see Haye I'm going to give him a slapBy William Mackay: Dereck Chisora has some bad blood with former WBA heavyweight champion David Haye for some reason and is promising to beat him up when he sees him.

Chisora told Sky Sports News why he feels so confident about his fight on Saturday night against WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko “Because I have no broken toe. You’ve got to give a man credit when you lose. Either way, I’m going to beat him [Haye] up when I see him – in the ring or outside the ring. Me and him are going to war soon. When I see him I’m going to give him a slap.”

I think it would be a good fight if Chisora was able to beat Vitali on Saturday, but the interest from Haye and the British public won’t be there if Chisora loses and loses badly to Vitali. I don’t think it would even matter if Chisora attacked Haye outside of the ring, I don’t think Haye would indulge him by agreeing to fight.

Haye is interested in facing Vitali next; that’s the fight he wants but thus far he’s priced himself out of it by asking for too much money. Haye will have to come down from whatever he’s asking because Vitali is getting big money no matter he fights and he doesn’t need to give Haye extra cash just to fight someone that the boxing public no longer really cares to see him fight.

If Chisora can fight well enough to almost beat Vitali, then maybe Haye will want to fight him if he’s unable to get a fight with Vitali, but I don’t think so. Haye will likely eventually lower his demands and take the still big money that he’d get for that fight than taking a smaller payday to fight a beaten Chisora. It would be a winnable fight for Haye in facing Chisora compared to David Price or Tyson Fury, but still one that could be dangerous for the fragile-chinned Haye.
