Image: Khan's 'Mystery Man' revealed to be an IBF official - Breaking News!By Scott Gilfoid: Former IBF/WBA light welterweight champion Amir Khan has made a huge bunch of noise in the past couple of days with on a wild goose chase to try explain away his 12 round decision loss to Lamont Peterson (30-1-1, 15 KO’s) last December. What a waste of time by Khan.

Khan spotted a mystery man sitting at ringside talking to one of the judges during the fight, and immediately saw something foul that he could use to cast doubt on the decision. Well, the ‘mystery man’ has been revealed by Sky Sports News to be little more than just an IBF official, nothing more.

Khan’s promoter Richard Schaefer still wants the Khan-Peterson fight results to be overturned and changed to a no contest, so Khan can get his IBF and WBA belts back. Presumably, you would have to think that Khan would then walk away like rather than give Peterson a rematch because that’s been his normal pattern after close fights or ones where he lost.
Schaefer is still up in arms about the IBF official being at ringside, and said to Sky Sports “The right thing to do is declare a no-contest. There’s enough controversy to warrant a no-contest decision. In any case, both governing bodies [IBF and WBA] should over a rematch and the fighters can settle it in the ring.”

Supposedly, the mystery man was seen joining in with Peterson’s post-fight celebration after he defeated Khan.
I think this is a bunch of hogwash from Khan. He’s throwing stuff up in the air to see what will stick with the IBF and WBA, so he can get his precious title belts back – and probably move on in another direction to continue his tireless chase of a payday fight against Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Just based on his pathetic performance alone against Peterson, Khan should try and prove himself against guys like Andre Berto, Victor Ortiz and Mike Jones before he gets to a Mayweather fight. Of course, I see Peterson whipping Khan in a rematch, but if Schaefer gets his wish and the fight is ruled a no-contest, you can bet Khan will be gone in a second and will forget all about a Peterson rematch.
