Image: Who's Next For Miguel Cotto?By Carlos J. Alvarado Jr.: Coming off one of his best wins in an exciting battle Miguel Cotto avenged his first loss in a thriller by beating down Antonio Margarito in a one-sided 10th round TKO. Doctors Stopped The fight do to Margarito’s badly swollen eye. But the question now is, “Who is next for Miguel Cotto?” In a division racked with talent such as Saul Alvarez, James Kirkland, Erislandy Lara, etc.

Fights with pound for pound kings Floyd Mayweather Jr., Manny Pacquiao and Sergio Martinez sound interesting. A chance to redeem his only other loss to Manny Pacquiao will be more interesting with Miguel Cotto having a new head trainer that seemed to bring the best out of Cotto. Floyd Mayweather Jr. is chasing Pacquiao but why not fight Cotto if The Pacquiao fight doesn’t happen?

A Sergio Martinez fight would be interesting but do to Sergio’s lack of population in the U.S. the fight will most likely not happen. A fight that is possible is Miguel Cotto vs WBC Middleweight Champion Julio Ceasar Chavez Jr. Which is approved as a possible fight by Top Rank Promoter Bob Arum promoter of both fighters. It gives Cotto the chance to win a 5th world title in his fourth weight class and make history.

No fighter in the history of boxing has won titles in four weight classes coming out of Puerto Rico. A fight he would have to move up in weight being he is a junior middleweight and son of legend Chavez Jr. Holds the middleweight championship. The fight also gives Chavez Jr. a chance to show the world that he is the real deal. Business wise this fight would sky rocket do the the population of both fighters and the fact that it’ll be a Puerto Rico vs Mexico rival fight just adds to the fire.
