Vitali is said to be training in Kiev, Ukraine, to get ready for his September 10th title defense against challenger Tomasz Adamek (44-1, 28 KO’s) at the Stadion Miejski, in Wroclaw, Ukraine.

It matters little where Vitali trains. He’s going to be huge problems for the smaller, weaker Adamek even if he trained on the moon. This is a mismatch. It doesn’t matter where Vitali does his training. He could probably train at 24 hour nautilus and still dominate Adamek like no tomorrow. There are levels in boxing, and Adamek is clearly a couple levels below Vitali and his brother Wladimir Klitschko.

Although the 40-year-old Vitali is an overwhelming favorite to defeat the 34-year-old Adamek without any problems, there are is a growing number of boxing fans who feel that Adamek actually has a chance to win the fight. I’m not one of them. I’ve seen Adamek fight many times, and I can’t see him even coming close to winning this fight.

Adamek is a hit and run specialist, a fighter that is somewhat like a slower version of Chris Byrd. He hits, runs and doesn’t have much else going for him. His power is mediocre, and because of his tendency to skedaddle after throwing one or two shots, he badly limits what he can do on offense. At cruiserweight, Adamek had one punch knockout power and it didn’t matter that he suffered from a poor work rate in the majority of his fights at that weight.

However, at heavyweight, Adamek hasn’t carried his power with him at this weight class, as he’s fighting guys that are 40 to 50 pounds heavier than the small cruiserweights he was facing. Against an even bigger and stronger Vitali, Adamek will have no chance of hurting him and because of his low work rate and habit of landing one or two shots and running, he won’t be able to win a decision. This is basically a money fight in view. It’s a bout where both fighters will get a good payday but the outcome is pretty much academic at this point that Vitali is going to slaughter Adamek.
