Image: Tyson Fury could fight a very dangerous Leif Larsen nextBy Sean McDaniel: Unbeaten British and Commonwealth heavyweight champion Tyson Fury (15-0, 10 KO’s) could face little known 36-year-old Norwegian heavyweight prospect Leif Larsen (14-0, 11 KO’s) on September 17th at the King’s Hall, in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

Larsen, 6’5″ 260 lbs, previously played pr0fessional football for the Buffalo Bills 10 years ago. He turned to boxing in 2003, and had been moving very slowly with his career until 2010. He’s fought mostly 3rd tier opposition but he can really punch.

That much is clear from the video I’ve seen of him. The hand speed isn’t there, but then against Fury isn’t particularly fast either. It could be a dangerous fight for Fury and I would be really surprised if he can takes this bout because Larsen is dangerous three round fighter. After three rounds, he’ll likely gas out badly and get knocked out by Fury.

But Larsen is a real threat to Fury, especially if he can get to him early with a consistent attack. Fury seemed troubled in his fight against the badly overweight Dereck Chisora, who only fought sparingly, yet had Fury hurt a couple of times. Larsen will pour it on much heavier than Chisora, and I see him as a much bigger puncher than Chisora.

Larsen can punch with both hands and reminds me of a white Ross Puritty, a guy that dabbled with football as well and is known for his 11th round knockout win over Wladimir Klitschko in 1998.

I live this fight if Fury actually takes it. Larsen can really punch and will make it interesting for three or four rounds. If he catches Fury with something big, I can see him finishing him off. Fury won’t be able to stop this guy if he gets hurt.
