By John F. McKenna (McJack): In words reminiscent of David Haye before his July 2 fight with Vladimir Kltischko, Russian heavyweight Denis Boystov has called the Klitschko brothers old men and dinosaurs. In an interview with Championat.com Boystov was highly critical of Vitali and Wladimir Klitschko.
In words seemingly taken right out of the David Haye playbook Boystov went on to say in the interview that the Klitschko’s have insulted the heavyweight division. Boystov also said that they (the Klitschko’s) have developed their own unique system of selecting opponents and only pick opponents that can benefit the Klitschko’s financially and athletically.
Boystov went so far as to accuse the Klitschko brothers of not even being boxers. Boystov on the other hand said he respected the Klitshko’s for “clearing up the division” and for removing Americans from the contenders for the heavyweight title.
It is unclear where Boystov was going with his harsh words for the Klitschko’s. He did note that they were not easy to defeat in the ring. Boystov did say that he thought Vitali was the stronger of the two brothers.
Denis went on the say in the interview that he cheered for David Haye in his July 2 fight with Vladimir Klitschko and faults Haye for not being more active and not giving his all.
WBC champion Vitali Klitschko (42-2, 39 KO’s) will be taking on Tomasz Adamek (44-1, 28 KO’s) on September 10 in Wroclaw, Poland. Vitali has expressed an interest in fighting David Haye (25-2, 23 KO’s) if he is successful in his title defense against Adamek. Thus far it is unclear if Haye will stick to his pledge to retire on his 31st birthday in October.
Wladimir Klitschko (56-3, 49 KO’s), who now holds all the heavyweight title belts except for the one his brother Vitali has, is also undecided as to who his next opponent will be after his July 2 dominance over David Haye. At this point the field is wide open.
Bostov at 6’1” and 220 pounds is a crowd pleasing power puncher and is currently undefeated (28-0, 23 KO’s).
Perhaps Denis Boystov wishes to emulate David Haye and raise his fistic profile so that he, like Haye, can generate enough enthusiasm and excitement to talk his way into a lucrative title shot at one of the brothers.
