Wladimir Klitschko vs. Chris Arreola possible for November

By Dan Ambrose: A bout between American Chris Arreola and IBF/WBA/WBO heavyweight Wladimir KLitschko is possible for November. Wladimir’s trainer Emanuel Steward would like for Wladimir to face Arreola next. Wladimir had been hoping to take on the winner of the Tyson Fury vs. Dereck Chisora fight this past weekend.

However, Fury blew apart those plans by opting not to take on Wladimir next. Fury wants to fight Martin Rogan and then Alexander Dimitrenko instead of facing Wladimir in what would be an almost guaranteed loss for Fury.

Arreola recently defeated Friday Ahunanya on July 9th by a 10 round lopsided decision. However, Arreola looked slow, weak and completely wide open on defense. It wasn’t a good performance from Arreola, but that’s kind of par for the course for him. Arreola is what he is. He’s never going to be much better than he is now, and Wladimir might as well take him on for nice easy title defense. At least Arreola will be good to drum up a little interest in the fight with his interviews.

Once Arreola is out of the way, Wladimir can go after Robert Helenius or a rematch against either Eddie Chambers or Ruslan Chagaev. David Haye wants a rematch with Wladimir as well, but Haye refuses to work his way back to a title shot and wants one given to him without Haye having to take on a tough fight against one of the top contenders. Haye’s unwillingness to work his way back into a title shot is making it easy for Wladimir to ignore him. Haye would be the better fight in terms of money but not as far entertainment goes. Haye is too small to compete with Wladimir and a rematch won’t prove otherwise.
