Haye should fight on – Hatton

By Joe Unsworth: Yesterday, arguably the most popular British fighter of all time Ricky Hatton hung up his gloves, bringing a close on an extremely successful career. Although calling it a day on his own career, the Hitman Hatton firmly believes that David Haye should not follow suit. Hatton has urged David Haye to put his retirement on hold and to look to re-build his career with a high profile fight in Las Vegas.

I strongly agree with Hatton that Haye should put his retirement on hold, but I do not think that there is anyone who would give Haye a real challenge apart from the current champions, the Klitschko brothers. Vitali has admitted himself that he would love a fight with Haye, but this would not be available till well after Hayes proposed retirement date of October 13th, his 31st birthday, due to the upcoming bout against Tomasz Adamek 44(28)-1(0)-0 taking place on the 10th of September.

I still see Haye having a big future ahead of him in a lacklustre heavyweight division which has been dominated by the Klitschko’s for many years. Although Haye was out-boxed by Wladimir, Haye is by far the most exciting fighter in the heavyweight division at the current moment; he has spiced things up which the division has needed for a long time. His retirement would be a big loss for the division as there is definitely a chance for another mega fight against either of the Klitschko brothers.

Many of you doubt David Haye and don’t like him because of his actions, but love him or hate him; no one can deny that Haye has been nothing but good for the division and it would be a massive loss if he was to retire on his 31st birthday. It would do nothing but good for the sport of boxing if there was to be one more mega fight between Haye and either of the Klitschko brothers, rather than the Klitschko’s boring us all again against mediocre opponents.
