By Dan Ambrose: Challenger Alfonso Gomez (23-4-2, 12 KO’s) put together a rap song to taunt WBC junior Saul Alvarez (37-0-1, 27 KO’s) at their Los Angeles, California press conference. Alvarez and Gomez fight on September 17th at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Alvarez, 21, is the favorite to win, but Gomez thinks he’s going to beat the young Alvarez and take his title away from him.

Here’s a loose translation of what Gomez said in his rap song about Alvarez:

“The new champion, I assure you dad
here it comes
Diablo Luna(Devil Moon=his rap name) h3(his group)
again, but this time…here it comes
you’re here to know it, I’m here to tell it
the taste of defeat, you’ll savor it
live and direct, I throw and I connect
the hooks and straights
little belt that was gifted to you
he turned red already, he’s mad
wash your face, you’re stained
hes from Colorado (red in Spanish)
thanks god for listening to my voice,
when I asked you for Cinnamon for my rice with milk,
from the WBC because you can see my desire to beat the baby
I’ll celebrate with my mariachi at staple’s center after beating Archie.”

Gomez doesn’t have the same power that Alvarez possesses nor does he have the boxing skills. He does have a lot of heard which he showed in some of his fights in the past such as his win over Jesus Soto Karasss. But for the most part he’s over-matched in this fight and will likely get knocked out or methodically beaten for 12 rounds. I see Gomez in the same class as a Lovemore N’dou, only without the ability to take as much punishment as N’dou has.
