Klitschko will be defending his IBF, IBO, WBO and Ring Magazine titles against Haye, who holds the WBC version of the Heavyweight Crown. The long anticipated match-up between “Dr. Steelhammer” and “The Hayemaker” will be a title unification fight. Wladimir’s brother Vitali holds the WBA title. The Klitschko’s have long sought to hold all the various versions of the Heavyweight title.

Possibly in an effort to prevent Klitschko from becoming overconfident Steward told him that David Haye will be the sternest test he has faced as champion. The legendary trainer told Sky Sport News that Haye has a different kind of energy to what Wladimir has been up against recently.

“David has the mindset, the arrogance of a champion. Vladimir has not had to experience that in a long time Steward was quoted as saying.

Emanuel also said “David’s explosive punching power and speed is the best Wladimir will have fought in his career. It’s going to be very dangerous. I think Vladimir will systematically win, but we have to be wary of some haymakers early in the fight.”

Steward also said that in this fight emotions will enter into it, which will make Wladimir more aggressive than he usually is.

Based on Steward’s interview it is apparent that “The Hayemaker’s” strategy of getting under Vlad’s skin is working and it sounds as if Emanuel may be attempting to tone down the emotions of his fighter. It is no secret that there has been animosity between Klitschko and Haye since Haye pulled the infamous stunt of showing up with the T-Shirt depicting the decapitated heads of the Klitschko’s. Since that time it appears that in Wladmiir’s mind destroying David Haye is about family honor and teaching him a lesson that he won’t soon forget. When Wladimir Klitschko speaks of punishing David Haye for eleven rounds and then knocking him out in the twelfth round, it may be his real intent to do so.

As far as “Dr. Steelhammer” is concerned this is no longer just about hyping a fight.

He wants David Haye bad. Emanuel Steward’s job will be to keep him focused and not lose his cool in the ring.
