Image: Chisora-Fury to take place on July 23By William Mackay: Undefeated Dereck Chisora (14-0, 9 KO’s) will be defending his title against unbeaten 6’9″ Tyson Fury (14-0, 10 KO’s) on July 23rd at the Wembley Arena, Wembley, London, England. This is a fight that the 27-year-old Chisora should win unless his long layoff causes him problems in the stamina department. Fury doesn’t have much in the way of boxing skills and gives away the inside position much too easy fora guy his height.

It’s going to be a tough fight for Fury to win without a jab or a big punch. To beat Chisora, you have to be a big puncher and you need to keep him on the outside. Unfortunately, Fury doesn’t possess a good jab and tends to fight his shorter opponents at close range rather than utilizing his long reach.

Chisora is murder in close, and Fury is going to take a lot of hard head shots in this fight. If you thought that Fury looked bad in his two fights with John McDermott, wait until you see him in this fight. Chisora won’t tire the way that McDermott did and will keep the pressure on Fury until he either fades or goes down. Chisora stopped Sam Sexton in the 9th round in his last fight in September 2010, taking him out with a brutal assault in close. Sexton fought well but couldn’t handle the pressure from Chisora. This is likely what will happen with Fury. Without a big punch, Fury is going to have problems keeping Chisora off of him. And once Chisora gets inside on you, he tends to stay there and work you over. Fury isn’t going to be able to stand in there too long if Chisora is able to bang away at him for five or six rounds.

Fury’s opposition has been poor for most of his career. The only halfway decent opponent Fury has fought was McDermott, who looked to have beaten Fury in their first fight in 2009, but lost by a controversial 10 round decision.
