By Eric Thomas: With Juan Manuel Marquez (52-5-1, 38 KO’s) possibly opting to stay with Golden Boy Promotions rather than moving o Top Rank, the word from Univision is that the 37-year-old Marquez has narrowed his vision on the following fighters for his next bout: Zab Judah, Amir Khan or the winner of this Saturday’s bout between Robert Guerrero and Michael Katsidis.

There was no word about Manny Pacquiao, which makes you wonder why not. Marquez recently sounded ambivalent about fighting Pacquiao, and seemed as if he didn’t really care if he did or he didn’t.

It could be that he realizes now that he would likely have to sign up with Top Rank to fight the fight o it could be that Golden Boy made a good offer to Marquez to stay with them. Golden Boy has a lot to offer Marquez with a number of good fights, whereas if Marquez moved with Top Rank, there would be Pacquiao but not a whole lot of other guys for him.

Marquez would do well against Judah, who he would out-work, out-land an dominate with his counter punching skills. The winner of Guerrero-Katsidis fight would be only slightly interesting if Guerrero came out the winner. Marquez already beat Katsidis by a 9th round stoppage last November, so it’s hard to see a rematch between them taking place if Katisidis beats Guerrero. Khan would be a good fight for Marquez, but it would take a lot of running to catch up to Khan because h would be off to the faces to avoid getting hit by Marquez.
