Fight Camp 360 Pacquiao vs. Mosley episode 2 = Another boring episode

By Realbox: While watching Fight Camp 360 Pacquiao vs. Mosley episode 2 this past Saturday night, I couldn’t help but notice the weak attempt of Showtime of making something even remotely close in quality to HBO’s 24/7. I listened to “Sugar” Shane Mosley (46-6-1, 39 KO’s) say “A guy this caliber can only put me at the top” when talking about Manny” Pacquiao (52-3-2, 38 KO’s). Let’s say Mosley actually does put the Pacman down, is Mosley really at the top now?

Well, not really. He would be the one who exposed the over-hyped Pacquiao, nothing more than that. Mosley looked horrible in his last fights. That wouldn’t put him at the top after any fight. Those are just the merits to become a possible opponent for the Pacquiao (just look at his past fights).

And when is Pacquiao going to fight someone who is actually fighting good? What ever happened to those champions who went after the best out there and not the most profitable ones? Even the Pacquiao’s fans were calling Mosley “old” and “past his prime” in the wake of his fight against Floyd Mayweather Jr. last year. Heck, even Erik Morales called out Marcos Maidana, who everyone expected to get destroyed within 3 or 4 rounds, but he finished the fight with some glimmers of his talent (very few but well). Even having lost to Maidana, I would pay a lot more money to watch that quality of a fight than say Joshua Clottey vs. Pacquiao.

Will the public keep eating up his fights against old and dried out boxers? Bob Arum and Pacquiao are laughing all the way to the bank for sure. I really hope that boxing fans stop purchasing fights of their favorite boxers against other than the best out there. So promoters HAVE to stop cherry picking their cash cow’s careers to maximize their profits, and work with a little more balanced interest for the boxing fan. We are the ones paying the PPV fees anyway. We deserve some quality and respect.
