Image: Fury vs. Nascimento: Tyson says this is his most dangerous puncher he's facedBy Sean McDaniel: Unbeaten heavyweight Tyson Fury (13-0, 9 KO’s) is very concerned about his unbeaten Brazilian opponent Marcelo Luiz Nascimento (13-0, 11 KO’s), who Fury will be facing this Saturday night in a scheduled 10 round bout at the Wembley Arena, Wembley, London. Not much is known about the 6’5″ Nascimento other than the fact he seems like he can really punch, at least with his left hand.

He seems to be a much better puncher than Fury, but not as skilled, which isn’t really isn’t saying a lot. It is troubling that this guy is being pooled from as far away as Brazil because it sends alarm bells that they had to search long and hard to find someone with an inflated record for Fury to look against. It’s not a good sign that no one has really heard much of Nascimento before this fight, as he’s not someone that’s usually talked about when boxing writers and fans talk about prospects. That’s not stopping the 22-year-old Fury from pumping up Nascimento and making it seem as if he’s better than he is.

In a press release sent out today, Fury said this about Nascimento: “This is without a doubt the most dangerous and hardest puncher I’ve ever been in the ring with.”

Let’s be real here. Fury hasn’t faced anyone with any kind of power yet in his 13 fights, so it’s not a big deal that Nascimento can puncher harder than guys like John McDermott. It’s because Fury still hasn’t faced anyone with a pulse yet. Nascimento isn’t a huge puncher compared to better heavyweights. He can punch a little with his left hand, but he’s not David Tua, Wladimir Klitschko or David Haye. It looks like Fury is trying to build this guy up so he can look good afterwards for beating him.
