Image: Fury faces the hard hitting Nascimento on Saturday: Tyson sounding worriedBy William Mackay: Unbeaten heavyweight hopeful Tyson Fury (13-0, 9 KO’s) is sounding worried about the power of his Brazilian opponent Marcelo Luiz Nascimento (13-0, 11 KO’s), who the 22-year-old Fury faces on Saturday night in a 10 round bout at the Wembley Arena, Wembley, London. Fury hasn’t experienced defeat yet and hasn’t really been in with a big puncher as of yet.

The 6’5″ Nascimento, if nothing else, can punch with his left hand and if he catches Fury with one of his left hooks, it could be an easy night for the big Brazilian. It doesn’t matter than Nascimento seems to be incredibly crude in his fundamental boxing skills, because so is Fury. Both of these guys looking like raw amateurs and the only difference I can see is that Nascimento is a much better puncher than Fury.

This is a fight in which Fury is being picked to win, but we could see a minor upset here if Nascimento can land one of his big lefts on Fury’s chin. It’s not like Nascimento will have to go looking for Fury to land his shots, because Fury will be there right in front of him. Emanuel Steward, the new trainer for Fury, will be giving him commands to box behind his jab and keep out of range of Nascimento’s left hand bombs. But knowing Fury, he’s going to be soon standing in close with Nascimento, throwing his own bombs and taking big head shots. Fury doesn’t seem to realize yet that he’s not a big puncher. He fights like he’s a knockout puncher but he lacks the power to take his opponents out like normal power punchers.

Fury says “This is without a doubt the most dangerous and hardest puncher I’ve ever been in the ring with.” Is Fury afraid? It might be wise if Fury does show some healthy fear because if he tries to trade with Nascimento early on, Fury could end up on the canvas face first.
